The buzz around the Online Marketing Summit this year was loud and continuous; many people were there for the first time and many were self-described as online marketing neophytes. Even to battle-scarred digerati like us, OMS 2012 exceed expectations… The Marketing Automation sector was well represented here amongst the CMS, SEO, marketing research, and other type of online Marketing vendors. Eloqua, Silverpop, Treehouse Interactive, and Infusionsoft. Treehouse’s CEO Erich Flynn and Director of Sales Raegan Wilson were there with demos of both their Market View and Reseller View services, which help marketers with Marketing Automation and Channel Management, respectively. And speaking with Infusionsoft’s Online Community Manager Joe Manna (@JoeManna) and Vice President of Communications Kathy Sacks (@KathySacks) there was a hint that a very exciting release of their platform would be announced in the near future (we really like Infusionsoft’s new corporate identity, hoping their new look is an indicator on how good the next version of their app will be).
And talk about Marketing Automation luminaries – it was a pleasure to listen to the likes of Jon Miller (@jonmiller2) of Marketo, Joe Chernov (@jchernov) of Eloqua, Carlos Hidalgo (@cahidalgo) of The Annuitas Group, and Adam Needles (@abneedles) of Left Brain Marketing. We like to consider ourselves experts in Marketing Automation, but these gentlemen are at the top of the Marketing Automation food chain and there’s always something for MA veterans to learn from them!
Of course, as was blogged at Dreamforce for days one, two, and three, we would like to have a small diversion from the usual Marketing Automation pontification you find here and report to you on some really cool S.W.A.G. (we like the word “doo-dads“) that was at OMS this year:
First were these cool “digital dice” from Dun & BradStreet/Hoovers:
Then was the USB “gumby” man from Northbound DGS:

Joe,
It was great seeing you at OMS12 this year. It’s great to finally put a name to a face. I’m honored to be mentioned in your follow-up post.
I’m right there with you — the event was rich with pro-level marketers and consultants who value the power of marketing tools before, during and after the ‘funnel.’ It was great to hang with the thought-leaders and pros known in the marketing automation space, too.
Thanks for the positive feedback on Infusionsoft’s updated brand. Without revealing too much, I can say that you’ll be thrilled with the direction our software is taking.
Joseph Manna
