Navigating the Sales Road with PeopleMaps

PeopleMaps Map

Many years before the appearance of the Holy Social Media Trinity (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn), it was very time consuming to figure out who knew each other and how to reach a particular person you did not directly know. “No Soliciting” signs, gatekeepers, and basic lack of visibility into an organization have kept Salespeople away from prospects since the dawn of the candlestick telephone.

But social media is here to stay and its value in the B2B world is growing every day. There are some great tools out there to facilitate salespeople getting through to the elusive decision maker. [Read more...]

Lead Generation with Twitter

Lead Generation with Twitter
Yesterday’s eMarketer Daily newsletter featured an article about the use of Twitter by B2C companies and its relative success.  It was based on HubSpot‘s research finding that “Among business-to-consumer (B2C) small and medium-sized companies studied, more than one-half of those using Twitter generated double the median monthly leads of non-Twitter users. That result held across company size.”

These findings are noteworthy and lead to more questions…

Marketing Automation Communications & Computing

Your Marketing and Sales teams should communicate like a platoon.

This is the eighth in a series of excerpts from Allinio’s white paper Net-Centric Marketing & Information Superiority.

Communications

Obviously the telephone will continue to be a major tool to the Net-Centric Marketer for communications.  For outbound and inbound data gathering and selling, the telephone has proven its versatility and from an interactive perspective, remains widely accepted by customers.  Enhancing the capabilities of voice-based platforms are Internet based Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems, which are a significant advancement over legacy IVR platforms. SXSW Envy Epidemic Spreads to B2B Population

@mancevic

The Marketing Consigliere recently blogged about “Twitter Envy,” but since he was already on Twitter approaching two years, can’t say he remembers knowing enough about Twitter to be envious of it before he started dabbling in it.  And being a B2B Marketer, he had never heard of SXSW until he started using Twitter (Come to think of it, Twitter has really expanded his horizons since he had never heard of TED or Davos either – He’s just a nice Italian boy who knows his food and Marketing).

At first it seemed like a giant recess for the youthful, goateed crowd who were far more versed in social media and mobile Internet than he.  This funny sort of Spring Break in, of all places, a land-locked section of Texas appeared not to be the jurisdiction of serious, discplined Marketers, especially of the blue-blooded B2B batch.  It’s taken a year, but now The Marketing Consigliere admits SXSW is misunderstood by outsiders – there is value to this event, and even admits he has SXSW Envy to the point he wishes he was there this year and would jump on a plane if offered the ticket.

The Feeling is MutualMind

MutualMind

With Marketing organizations scrambling onto the social media bandwagon, more and more are realizing that they need to do it in an increasingly integrated way with the rest of their marketing efforts. One of the most important things to do in that regard is to utilize analytical technologies that help document the measurable results for social media reconnaissance and tactics.

MutualMind, a Richardson, Texas-based startup, has a vision for Marketers that can help them master this need to integrate social media with their overall marketing.  Recently, The Marketing Consigliere interviewed Babar Bhatti (@thebabar), the CEO of MutualMind before he departed for SXSW 2010 about this vision and the compelling reasons to try his social media platform for business. B2B Twitterer of the Year Bash Planned in DC

If you’re in Washington, DC on the evening of February 9th 2010, you may want to come over to Gua Rapo in Arlington to the Capital Cabal networking event from 5:30 to 9:30 pm.  From there we will be tweeting the winners of the 2009 B2B Twitterer of the Year Awards.   There will be a great mix of marketing and tech professionals, so it will be a night to remember.  It’s the best $15 you can spend in Washington.

This video of the most recent Capital Cabal event above was created by @EricaAmerica, aka Erica Anderson, and captures the spirit and opportunity of such an evening.  Look for a cameo by The Marketing Consigliere himself.

The Awards Program is relatively new (of course), so won’t quite have Oscar accessories like red carpet and Armani suited/gowned celebrities.  But it will be fun and is a milestone in the history of Twitter, because with the use of this platform by B2B companies, it is clear that Twitter is “growing up.”

But if you can’t get here from your corner of the globe, feel free to follow @B2BTOTY on Twitter – we’ll be tweeting the winners live from the event so you’ll still be in the loop!

Sponsors, it would behoove to consider sponsoring the program – Capital Cabal events are promoted to 30,000 of Washington’s leading marketers and tech leaders, all with contacts all over the country.  Check out the sponsorship page for more information.
